Welcome and thank you for stopping by to not only hear about my journey but to hopefully take away helpful life skills and tips to make your life more full and successful...whatever that may look like to you!! That's the beauty of it all, we all have a different journey. Whether you're here to join a community, set goals, or if you're just curious, you've come to the right place.
My name is Andrea, some call me Andi. I am a happily married woman, mother of two, and have worked my whole life with a goal of always being able to provide for myself and then eventually for my family. Contributing to the success of my family and by helping others achieve their own sense of fulfillment. I am truly happy when others around me understand my genuine interest in their success and happiness. My blogging journey is just beginning and I look forward with sharing so many stories. Some good, some bad, and some so unbelievable they will blow your mind. It's a curse of being thankful for the life experience and unfortunate in the fact that I've seen, heard, and lived through some of the most gut wrenching experiences ...I am FAR from perfect! In fact, very far! It is many of those imperfections that have led me to this point. This took some deep diving in to the healing process and the reality of the damage my former career brought.
Chess Not Checkers was created by my husband. YES! I am giving him the credit. He is, by far, the more creative one out of the two of us. It was an idea built on developing opportunity and really seeking out how to achieve long terms goals. This, coupled with my desire to help people and form a translatable career path with still maintaining who I am as a human has brought you this new content. I am an Arizona native who attended high school in an east valley suburb and went on to obtain a Bachelors Degree from Arizona State University in Exercise and Wellness in 2004. You see, from my very early years, I've always had a desire to help others. That desire later turned in to a career in public service. I served faithfully in public service for over 15 years!
As my time as a working professional in one of the highest stress environments, I learned to adapt quickly and meticulously in life or death situations. As a wife and mother, the balance of doing both well became more and more challenging. So, I set out on a journey to rediscover who I was, who I am, and who I want to be. Because of some of the trauma experienced throughout the course of 'normal life' in addition to the life of a public servant, I turned to writing. It has been therapeutic and rewarding to share some of these experiences. My hope and my goal is to engage with people throughout their very seasons of life and to bring my experience forward to share in a place of healing, growth, safety, and the desire to continue to help people.
